"I love driftwood. As a little boy I remember noticing two
pieces of driftwood lying proudly in our house. One bore resemblance
to an Asian fakir and the other to a ram with the most striking
and unusual horns.
These pieces worked their magic and left a lasting impression on
me; today driftwood continues to nourish my imagination endlessly.
Battered by the elements before being thrown onto the beach, each
individual piece has its own history and as a consequence, unique
shape, colour and texture. The interplay of individual pieces of
driftwood, brought together, with their own inherent characteristics
and peculiarities, culminates in a work of art.
All my compositions combine the unpredictable beauty of nature with
a very rigid structure. I have developed an original method of attaching
driftwood without using a single nail or screw. This allows me to
construct most solid and yet elegant compositions."
